Cheap Date (or rather fig)

I think fig cookies are one of the most underestimated things out there. To me, there is nothing quite as delicious as a fresh, succulent fig. Yum! You don't even have to peel it when it is perfectly ripe; just pick and eat. So, I love, love, love fig cookies. They remind me of warm evenings in Salernes, sitting outside with friends. We'd pick the figs off of their tree while we sat and talked and drank wine and smoked too many cigarettes. They were fun, easy evenings; long gone by. But for the price of a cheap cookie, I can close my eyes and remember. Isn't life fab?

Have not had a fig in ages but had a fig newton a few weeks ago. Does that count?
