15 Minutes of Fame
I took this picture at the market in the Bahamas. This man asked me if I would pay him for taking his photo and I said no. Then we sat and talked for about fifteen minutes, while my sister shopped inside. He told me why he liked painting so much more than taking photographs, and he talked about his time spent in NY and how differently his family treated him upon his return. I sat next to him on the sidewalk while we talked, there was no where else to sit. It was terribly hot that day, and while we talked it started to rain. I discovered that not only were we the same age, but our birthdays were only a few days apart. Funny, two lifetimes that couldn't be more different, sharing 15 minutes of not being so different. It was one of my favorite things that I did on that trip.

JD: It felt like one of the great moments in my life, on some kind of a spiritual level.
