A small child's summer is endless. Green lawns spread forever. Countries of pink and yellow flowers fall to small curious fingers. New life explores new life. And summer, like a pregnant woman, yawns contentedly.
she is a cutie, for sure! and for some reason i am really looking forward to fall. clearly i am no longer a child -- it is so hot that i can't wait for cooler weather! :)
Great lines. Don't you just want to squeeze her (but not too hard b/c it'll hurt)? She also looks like she has one of those loud but very cute laughs too.....
In my later life (now), I was blessed with two children. They both got a grandaddy/daddy all wrapped up in one. The oldest is now twelve...the youngest, almost six. The most wonderful part of this experience (which I never imagined would happen...especially at this stage)was that they bring back to this old cogger (me), my childhood. I see me and re-experience me in them. It is a joyous thing...and it does indeed make it endless for me.

EVERYBODY: I agree that she is beautiful. It's a miracle when we can get her to sit still long enough to get a clear picture of her.
JFK Jean: It's funny that you clarified not squeezing a child too hard. And you're right, she has a hearty laugh. You always know.
jadedj: My father was old enough to be my grand father, and he stayed "young" a long time. I think my grand daughter keeps me young too.
Awwww! She's beautiful! And so is the poem! :)
I love the pic..so much. I'm just not sure about that pregnant woman yawning contently in the summer. Especially, in our humidity.
But I liked the poem too. Thanks so much for your comment. I think of Jane a bit like my cousin who grew up in similar circumstances.
What a lovely poem! Really beautiful, and that little girl is so gorgeous! A ray of sunshine!
xxx
