Here's a necklace trend that's hard to miss. Rhinestones, pearls, gold chains, vintage brooches & earrings, all thrown into the mix. What you wind up with is a statement piece that can be worn dressed up or down. The examples here range anywhere from $18.-$300. My DIY cost $5., max. I purchased vintage necklaces and earrings at the flea market for 50 cents to $1. Then I simply hung the earrings onto the necklaces, and layered at will. Can you tell the difference between mine and the expensive ones? I didn't think so.
The black necklace was a present from Cute Hubby, I added it into the mix for interest.

I love the DIY necklaces. I need to learn how to make one.
love your picture, D!
The Peach Tart: You should be able to find great stuff to make one at the Junior League place.
miriam: Thanks.
EVERYBODY: Sorry my page has been hard to access since I changed the format (effing Internet Explorer/blogspot incompatibility). I had to move my blog/follower lists back down to the bottom of the page.
Love the idea and YOU LOOK GREAT in yours!
I have a drawer full of stuff. I'll work on one this weekend.
xo
Joanna: Awesome. I'd love to see the results. xo

Tracey: I actually thought of YOU when I included pics of me, because I've been meaning to ask you to put up a few "glam" shots of yourself (as opposed to everyday shots with the kids/family). I must have taken 30 pictures of myself before I came across one that I liked well enough to post up.
Marian: Thank you honey. I was amazingly lucky enough to find an old guy at the flea market with a table full of old stuff, and I mean FULL. The necklaces were $1., the earrings $.50, pins $.75. It was like a dream!
thanks for your lovely comment (you must have written that ages ago - sorry it's taken me so long to get back to you!). you have such an interesting blog!
Your necklace is just beautiful! I did a DIY necklace project a long time ago and it didn't turn out nearly as well! http://hipstermusings.blogspot.com/2008/07/subversive-jewelery.html
Isa: Awwww, your necklace is great, don't be so hard on yourself. I would wear it in a heartbeat. (maybe not with that shirt though, hee)
Faux Naif: Thank you. I like your blog enough that I am now following. :)
i am mad for jewelry! i'd like to have ALL OF THESE PIECES, including yours!
and making your own stuff is a hell of a lot cheaper and completely unique, so that is the way to go! :)
Drolly: With your artsy eye, I bet your stuff would turn out pretty cool.
Very vintage! You'rs looked the best. so I take it..clip on earrings, right?
Cait: Yes, clip-ons. I hadn't thought about that.
You've become more of a moviestar !!
What great necklaces and the ones you are wearing are awesome ...
Post me (by mail) a picture of yours - I let India photo-edit it and my oh my, she makes us look like Vogue models !
You should see what she does with my pics !!
Domi: My, how you flatter me.
It's good that India knows how to do all of that computer stuff. As far as doing your photos, I don't think you need any help at all.
You know, that pic of yours really suit all the other cool pictures. I think it's the floor you're laying on....or perhaps it's the wall??
