I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings

I bought a t-shirt at Delia's today, and SURPRISE! I got an education. The shirt was printed by a company called Out of Print and they have a very cool mission statement which you can read in one of my blurry photos. The education is on the author, Maya Angelou. She is also a civil rights activist, among many other talents. Please click on her name to be taken directly to her website.
Thank you Delia's!
* A bird doesn't sing because it has an answer. It sings because it has a song.

Woah, I'm actually a fan of hers. Not too big of a fan, but I just love her voice and some of her work.
It has been sampled in a few dance songs. Haha.

It's so nice to rediscover classic works. The company has a nice initiative.
I'm taking a break from blogging until Spring. See you then.

JD: I'm not surprised that you know her through music, haha. But I've just "met" her through fashion, so neither one of us from reading.

Dedene: You're not on facebook til Spring either? See you there or after your break. Have a nice one.

I'll try to check her site out better later, but her pic is impressive, you can tell there's a lot going on behind those eyes.

Thanks for this post, I watched a biography on her life at youtube. Man what a very full life she lead despite adversity. It's always good to be armed with more knowledge.

It's hard to imagine how anyone could fit so much into one lifetime. She is truly an extraordinary woman.
