I'll Take a Queen Over a Prince
Well, Spring has definately arrived, and now every guy coming in to work dresses like he's the Prince of Belair. Out come the baseball caps and baggy shorts. Out come the ridiculous plastic framed sunglasses. Last night I saw a guy who's bottom was COMPLETELY out of his pants. Is that supposed to be gangster, thug, or what? All I wanted to do was tell him to pull his pants up. Honestly, I wanted to rip off those stupid plastic sunglasses first, slap him, tell him to pull his pants up and go apologize to his mother. I bet, where ever his mother is, she's not happy. What is the excuse for the older guys, mid life crisis? I am thankful that cute hubby dresses like a real man. He wears pants that fit, in colors that won't blind you, and his sunglasses are Ray Bans. He reminds me a little of Clint Eastwood sometimes. Ahhhhh, Clint Eastwood.....Oh..eh..where was I? Well, you get the idea. Now that we are on the Prince of Belair alert, count how many guys you see dressing that way. It's too ridiculous. Don't forget to click on the title - I'll Take a Queen Over a Prince - for your added surprise. Apologies in advance for those of you who can't load the video. Apparently, in some countries my tasted in videos is banned. Go figure.

My god, I have seen this look on guys my age! That doesn't work at all!
I don't think that look work's on ANYONE, of ANY age ... not even the Fresh Prince himself.
Two of the best parts of guys are their bottoms and thighs, it's a crime to hide them inside all that baggy material ... they all need to watch and learn from Bruce Springsteen, who might be getting on a bit but who still knows how to wear jeans to perfection (imo)
SkylersDad: I think it's part of the mid life crisis thing, right up there with ditching the wife & buying a little red sports car.
GI: Yes, Bruce does wear them pretty well, but I also love the way George Michael looks in a tight pair.
Glad you think the same Diane...yesterday, Spring finally sprung and when I was strolling into town - the closer I came to the Grand Market (where out city hall is and very touristic) I sat down to have a drink and OMG, in just 30 minutes, I saw THE most horrendously dressed people walk by ...was there a meeting for Badly Dressed People at this point ?
I wonder if this had anything to do with tourists because, I live in a crowded piece of town too, lots of people but never see this dresscode when I'm sitting outside...or..well, maybe just 6 weeks a year, begins in June...when the 'Sinksenfoor' hits our town...(carnival and merry go rounds and stuff that I really hate...to many people, to much terrible noise)
reading your post felt like you were here next to me telling me all about it. what a great story teller you are!
and great news about Florida - you surely deserve it!
Dominica: It's us or them, and I'm sure it's not us. Know what I mean?
miriam: Thanks.
You have no idea how much I need this break away. My life is like something out of a Lucille Ball meets the Cookie Monster scenario.
I saw a guy who had to be at least 28 years old wearing those 80's sunglasses that like like mini-blinds. Dude, seriously...live in the now!
oh it woulda been so great if you had slapped that moron and straightened him out. you would be a busy person if you did that all over planet earth! i keep thinking that stupid look is going to go out of style, but it just keeps LINGERING, much to my horror.
Haha, those are trends that really needed to die! :)
A xx
Well, I LOOOOOOVED the 'Fresh prince' show. I think I've seen every episode at least twice. Haha. :)
But yeah...having an outfit now like Will in Fresh Prince, is a big no no. :)
I honestly hope these trends continue and I'll give you my reasons:
1- Makes me feel better about myself that my appearance is more polished and that I care about how I look.
2- As bad as I'd like people to dress better, sometimes I ponder "then we'd be a world full of zombies and look alikes".
3- Those that'll change their appearance will do so when their time comes, and those that don't...well they won't. They'll continue the cycle of awful and dowdy dressers via their offspring and from what I can see, Diane, you have absolutely nothing to worry about :)
Miss Yvonne: Oh, the mini-blind sunglasses, a major offender. Especially in chartreuse.
drollgirl: That slap was a wish that could certainly get me into trouble. For me, it would be like slapping someone to their senses.
a cat of impossible color: Welcome. You have certainly landed in the Land of Sillyness.
JD: I used to love that show too. I must admit, I was really glad when Will Smith grew up. Oh yeah, and who didn't love Carlton?
JFK Jean: I got a nice chuckle out of your comment, thanks.
I live with this look on a daily basis. My students still dress this way, despite my desperate prayers to the fashion gods. Then they sit down in their desks with their pants down halfway to their knees, and get all offended when I ask them to please get dressed.
Bahahaha! You are SO right!
hahahaa...I liked that part about your taste in videos are banned in some countries..& I loved your comment too. Wow, that must have been fun to take driving lessons that person.
Thanks again.
Vic: You are a much braver woman than I.
Wanderlusting: Welcome, glad I could make you laugh.
Cait: Sandy was the only woman on the team at the time. She was cool.
I love that men wear pants that actually fit them. I also love it when guys start to show aging.
My god, I used to love it...amazing!X
