John Sollo and David Rago present a 20th century modern weekend - April 25,26 2009. Here are some excerpts from the catalog, which include photography work by Arnold Eagle, furniture by George Nakashima, Jay Stanger, and Ron Arad. If you click on the title - Rago Auction - April 25,26 2009 - it will take you directly to the Rago site, where you can find all of the information you need and an inventory of what's up for auction. There is a beautiful assortment of glasswork and jewelry, as well.
I love the chairs in the first pics ...but have to agree with Girl In. I think the are a bit not-so-comfy .... I think your *** will hurt after a while ...:-O
Dominica: O.k., I'll be completely honest - in my living room are two overstuffed sofas, we don't even have chairs in there. So my "suffering" line is really hypocritical bullsh*t intended for others, not me.
I love the bench and chairs in the first two pictures (I like organic materials ). The last couple, I agree look a bit severe, but this stuff appeals to me. So spare, and nice clean lines. Sigh.
Your note made me laugh. I don't know why, it made me think of this article I remember reading in an old magazine I found at a booksale about the bread they made daily at this commune. & you had to make it barefooted..just because..I guess.
I always thought that would be rather cool. Well, says we are in a blizzard warning tonight. Oh joy.
what beautiful pieces! thanks so much for the lovely comment on blog. and for what it's worth, don't cut your hair short! i think long hair is so beautiful and it's such a shame when women over 40 chop theirs off. why not just get a fun, stylish bob, to just above the shoulders... or even something super layered to make it more manageable/less dry. hope i'm not being too forward... xx chloe
Girl Interrupted: Have you been "pre-partying"? I'm trying to get Vic to come over with a vat of chocolate pudding for the wrestling. Any word from Hugh Jackman yet?
JFK Jean: I love that phrase about the fine wine. And as far as memory loss goes, I've been an expert on that since menopause (sharing too much here?). I love your profile pic, btw.

Really unusual designs ... I'm intrigued to know whether some of them are as uncomfortable as they look though
Girl Interrupted: Ah, but "suffering" is always a part of fashion. We must learn to suffer beautifully.

Sigh.
Vic: You might have an affinity with hard wooden furniture, since you work in a school. Just a guess.
Or loggers. :)
I think they use the metal chair at Gitmo to make the prisoners talk.
Vic: That reminds me of the old joke - how far is "The Old Log Inn"? sorry, couldn't resist.
Skylers Dad: I am such a moron, I had to google Gitmo to find out what it was. When are they going to close that place down?
beautiful pieces.

Ahhh, look at my city back in the olden days, no cell phones, internet, ipods, I really miss those simpler times lmao
Cait: I feel so much better now, we are just having high winds here.
Chloe: Thanks so much for your advice. I just loved your post today.
JFK Jean: Look really close at the 2nd pic, I think it was taken waaaay before you were born. So, what are you really saying here?
*laughs and snickers at the "Old Log Inn" joke"* :P

No! The rotten ingrate!
Vic's more than welcome ... specially if she brings pudding :)
that last chair is INCREDIBLE!!! i would not want to sit in it, but i sure do admire it. :)
What I'm saying Diane my dear is that it's true that we do age like fine wine but also with age comes some memory loss? :).......
Drollgirl: Mmmmmmm, shiny.
