Eating Fresh

I love the feeling of a full refrigerator. I don't mean just full of stuff, I mean full of really good healthy food, and lots of choices. At this time of year, it's really important to take advantage of all of the fresh produce. The best meals I've ever had, were really simple. My favorite food memories revolve around picking berries as a kid, and walking around with a fresh tomato & a shaker of salt. When you eat more fresh produce than anything else, your body responds with more energy. You just feel better.

The picture is my response to SkylersDad's post today, which I'm still laughing at. His blog is called "Some Days It's Not Worth Chewing Through the Leather Straps", you can find it on my side bar.

Bon Appetit!

So funny you say this...I always think that going to the grocery store (here in NYC) is such an endeaver. WE have our car (like you know) but it feels like I never have time to do it so my bf and I have to schedule it in and yesterday we did it! We went to Trader Joes and now we are so stocked up and I always say when we drive back to our apartment 'a full fridge filled with fruit and viggies and yum yum's make me feel rich!'

Dear Diane!!! Wow...I wanted to message you a long time ago...First: thank you so much for your oh so kind comments. Second: I couldn't open your blog for weeks...I don't know why but I tried many many times and it didn't work.

I hope it will be ok from now and I can leave comments.

Hope you have a lovely week, much love: Evi

Yep, it feels good and especially that you can grab a healthy meal outta your fridge quick qand feel good.
We had a huge box of greens from BJ's, several cans of black olives and lots of cherry tomatoes. threw it together with some grilled chicken and it was such a satisfying meal anytime i wanted.
Gotta go and stock up again.

My ideal is an empty fridge with a big pizza in it and a coupla beers. Choice upsets me.

Dominica: I've seen your food pics, I know you eat healthy. (I'm not stalking or anything)

Dooder City: You described the feeling to a T, rich.

Miss Eve: Thanks so much for not giving up. Blogspot was having troubles with Explorer, but they fixed it.

Gary H: I love grilled chicken, and olives. How about a Caesar salad with the dressing tossed by hand?

Mo S: Liar, liar, pants on fire. I know you can't possibly eat like that with a toddler in the house. You're funny though.

A stocked fridge is a mental thing for me like you're in the right frame of mind if you have a full fridge. I honestly couldn't tell you why I think that, good food or bad but I just do. hehe

OK, time to get my eyes checked. My first glance at your title I thought it said "Eating Flesh" and I thought your blog was taking a whole new direction!

SkylersDad: Stop...you're giving me ideas.

JFK Jean: Wooops, almost skipped past you. Thinking is more clear on a full stomach. Except if it's full of beer.

I love "fresh fruits and veggies in my refrigerator" day! Unfortunately, I have more "shriveled up apple and slimy carrots" days at my house.

Miss Yvonne: Oh stop your whining, you just won a sex toy.

That's cool about the rings. Thanks for mentioning it.

Oh..its great to find some black berries.in the back yard...and my parents have so many. We have had strawberries this year and rasberries too..just not as many as we'd like.

Awesome! Since I live in the Country, my family is all about growing our own food! Tastes better and contributes to sustainability. :)

Totally agree, cutting out all the artifical preservatives and oil, invigorates your body. It has the same effect on me and it inspires me to eat better...till KL brings home a chocolate brownie :D

I love the feeling of a full fridge too! Tomatoes and salt shakers are how my Hubby, his Mom and our good family friend like them!

I pulled some science projects out of our fridge today. It feels good to have them out of there!

Hugs!!

This made me think of when I was little, spending weekends at my Grandparent's holiday home and being sent out with my cousins to collect blackberries so that my Grandmother could make crumbles and pies etc. She'd always tell us not to eat any as we'd spoil our dinners. When we returned she'd always say "I hope you haven't been eating the berries and spoiling your appetites!", of course we'd swear we hadn't, blithely unaware that we had blackberry juice smeared round our mucky little faces lol Happy times!
