So Here's To You, Mrs. Robinson
My sister sent me this commentary from Andy Rooney of 60 Minutes. I love it and so I'm sharing it with you, along with a few photo reminders of older women remaining fabulous.
As I grow in age, I value women over 40 most of all. Here are just a few reasons why: A woman over 40 will never wake you in the middle of the night and ask, 'What are you thinking?' She doesn't care what you think. If a woman over 40 doesn't want to watch the game, she doesn't sit around whining about it. She does something she wants to do, and it's usually more interesting.
Women over 40 are dignified. They seldom have a screaming match with you at the opera or in the middle of an expensive restaurant. Of course, if you deserve it, they won't hesitate to shoot you if they think they can get away with it. Older women are generous with praise, often undeserved. They know what it's like to be unappreciated.
Women get psychic as they age. You never have to confess your sins to a woman over 40. Once you get past a wrinkle or two, a woman over 40 is far sexier than her younger counterpart. Older women are forthright and honest. They'll tell you right off if you are a jerk, if you are acting like one. You don't ever have to wonder where you stand with her.
Yes, we praise women over 40 for a multitude of reasons. Unfortunately, it's not reciprocal. For every stunning, smart, well-coiffed, hot woman over 40, there is a bald, paunchy relic in yellow pants making a fool of himself with some 22-year old waitress.
Ladies, I apologize. For all those men who say, 'Why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free? here's an update for you. Nowadays 80% of women are against marriage. Why? Because women realize it's not worth buying an entire pig just to get a little sausage!

hahahaa..loved that last line. What a fun post!
Thanks for the comment. Hmm..I have to say I wasn't sure what got into me with Gordy. But I liked what he said too..and of course...he's not finished. He has to get into it with someone.
Those "bald, paunchy relic in yellow pants" types let the rest of down.
LOVE it! And soooo true!
I love older women, it's what I shoot for. I feel they have a lot to teach me and I have a lot to offer as far as maturity is concerned. In the next few years, there's gonna be a huge abundance of over 40 single and attractive women. Jennifer Aniston, Halle Berry, Demi Moore, Sandra Bullock, etc., Lord knows how much I adore these women.
I really appreciated finding this today since it's my birthday and am well a woman of a certain age...
cait: Me too, it's a funny twist on the men's "whole cow" line.
Mo S: So...I take it you are none of those things.
Jules: Yeah baby.
JFK Jean: I just love it when you younger dudes "have a lot to offer as maturity is concerned", haha. There is a wide variety of great older women out there; Cher, Susan Sarandon, Goldie Hawn, Sophia Loren, the list goes on & on.
The Peach Tart: Happy Birthday, and Happy Belated Birthday to your significant Tart. Your blog is hilarious, btw.
woww.. i love your post so much! :)))) it's truly amazing..

Awesome!!! I could not agree more. What a great post.
The most amazing "relationship" I was ever in was when I was 20 and with a women who was 39.
this is why I love your blog, D! you're always so unexpected. and this cheered me up, alot! i'm approaching my 30th and with no husband or kids in sight, it sometimes feels terrifying getting older... (but yes, i do have a great career ;)) xx

Older woman have a certain sex appeal that can only come with time and experience.

LOL hahahahahahahahahahaha....that last quote almost killed me but I hope not, you almost make me wanna crave being 40 (not yet, oh no)...
But I can understand a little bit what you mean here...(I'm 39, so wisdom is on it's way) ...
Michelle Pfeiffer is my hubby's fav gall ! She really is beautiful, even a bit girlish still.
Thank you Diane, for this wonderful blog on this dull (moron) day !
Laura: Thank you, I've got a crush on your blog as well. Your paintings are amazing, btw.
Dominica: If this helps, the 30's are o.k., but the 40's are better, you'll see. Your husband obviously has great taste in women, You & Michelle, oo la la. xo
Demi Moore is way to gorgeous!
The Little Jewelry Box: Really? I hadn't noticed.
really funny post

"It's not worth buying a whole pig to get a little sausage" is now my life motto!! That's going on my gravestone and everything!
Great post. Truer words were never spoken. Of course to a "maturer" pig such as myself, those over 40s are now young chickens. Any age below that is in the baby category.
Hahahaha. A little sausage eh?
I think older women are FAR MORE attractive than young teenagers...! For real.
It's not only because the older ladies got....'proper thickness' (nicer curvy bodies) but also because of their wisdom and deep conversation!
