Connections
Anybody who knows anything about Redwood trees knows that they are actually one living organism, connected, and not really separate trees at all. We are all like that, really. . . . connected. I was reminded of this by drollgirl's Appalachian photograph post today. We might see connections we don't want to, but they are there all the same.
So. . . . . I thought I would post some photos of connections in my family, starting with great-grandparents, grandparents, parents, children, and grand child. This is a random selection from both sides, Cute Hubby's & mine.

beautiful post! and your statement is so true. we all have roots, and we might as well try to embrace them and understand them.
drollgirl: Being connected will take you as far as you let it. From family, to extended family, to friends who feel like family, ect. I am beginning to realize the true importance of this and not be afraid of reaching out. Even if it's something as simple as an encouraging word on someone else's fashion blog.
We are all one in the same around here, and all deserve the love of each other.
Hugs
Hey, great idea. Enjoyed it.
No offense intended, but the second person looked a bit like Johnny Carson with a bush, to me.
SkylersDad: Yes we do.
jadedj: Are you reading without your spectacles again?
Such a beautiful post! You have one lovely blog, full of life and passion!
I am currently living in the UK but I'm a proud Canadian and my dad is Native American... Being away makes me realize so many things!
C.Elizabeth
yes. I've also been told I AM a spectacle.
Beautiful post, Diane! As always!
Beautiful family photos too. I can see the love!
Hugs!!
What a great looking family you have. I just posted some old pics today too. I guess great minds think alike.
Great collection of family photos. I especially like the ones where you are wrapped around each other hugging :-)
xo
jadedj: O ho! We have that in common, haha.
Tracey: "Love's what I got, don't start a riot." Sublime
Pru: I'm running over to see.
Joanna J: We do a lot of hugging in our family. It always takes strangers by surprise when we hug them.
C.Elizabeth: Thank you so much. I'm glad you got the point that I was trying to get across.
What a great family pic of all of you!
thanks for the note. In my other blog there's a gay couple who do have a baby. But Dan..well, I mainly based him on a hairdresser who used to cut my brother's hair. He was so crazy over my brother who dreaded listening to him flirt, but he always got an awesome hair cut. It used to drive my brother to tears, but now he tends to take it all in stride...even if he's been told that the company president has a crush on him. He just tells my Mom its a man crush.
Love the old photos too.
Cait: Whenever I read where you find inspiration, I'm surprised you don't have a third blog just for stories about your family. They're the best.
I love love love looking at old photos, this is a fantastic post.
Awww man, I love the photos so much! It just got better and better as it went along. Really makes me want to do some homework on my own background.....
trishiekoh: I love old photos too. Well, I love photography, so I guess that means all photos.
JFK Jean: Thank you so much. It's so nice when other people see what you see in photos. I love the one of you when you were little, btw.
Wow, I have the feeling that you have a very coooool....laidback...relaxed family. I don't know why. :P
Hm, these pictures increase my love for film photography. Great stuff!! And nice post. :)
JD: You are right, we are very laid back; but we all have our "soap boxes" too.
Thanks for the compliment, it means a lot coming from you. xo
thats beautiful! i love these old pictures... very touching!
aaw I love your photos!
Love Miiicha
Beautiful photos as always, Diane. The really old ones are just fascinating ... but my favourite was the one of you lying on the bed in the background with the baby in focus in the foreground. A lovely image of motherhood :)
