The Secret to Looking Young

People are always asking me how I manage to stay so young looking, I turn 51 this month. Here's the answer:

Never wash with soap. Not your body or your face.
I use Juice Organics facial cleanser, the main ingredient is white grape seed extract. I noticed a difference after the first use.
2 or 3 times a week I use my Shiseido facial brush, probably the best investment I ever made. As opposed to a facial scrub, which can leave little lacerations on your skin, the ends of the brush are rounded.
Moisturize every night before you go to bed. Your body does most of its healing when you are asleep. Your blood vessels expand, which is why we get hot & toss the covers off, making this the perfect time for treatment.
When you moisturize, use that time to give yourself a mini-facial massage. The best one I've come across was taught to me by Shiseido, and they have a ginger-based massage cream that makes it nothing short of a miracle for your skin. Their founder was the private pharmacist for the emperor of Japan.
Drink a lot of water. It's good for your skin and hair, not to mention all of your internal organs.
Eat more produce than anything else. You'll see a huge difference if you cut out heavy sauces and processed foods.
Get yourself moving. Exercise of any kind is good for you. A walk around the neighborhood, dancing in your kitchen, using the stairs. If you get into the habit of "moving", your body will thank you for it by becoming leaner and more flexible.
Younger looking hair requires oil treatments. If you are in a hurry, a light film of olive oil combed through will do the job. Leave it in all day, and then wash & condition normally. Rinse with water as cold as you can stand it.
Smile. Statistics show that smiling automatically lifts your mood. A woman's smile is her best accessory.
My favorite body moisturizer is made by Nature's Gate, and contains persimmon & rose geranium. It feels as though you are quenching your skin, not simply coating it.
As a final note, red wine has been shown to have many health benefits. It cuts the chances of dementia by 85%, who knew? It might also help you with that smiling thing.
Have a nice day.......now get moving! xo

If only I could eat a salad without croutons and dressing....sigh!

I'll get moving now! Can't sit here and read blogs all day but I'm sure glad I came here!

Have I told you lately that you're beautiful? You're positively glowing!!

I NEED to know what day your birthday is. My sister's birthday is this month too!

Tracey: Could it be Styx? I always loved that band. Or how about sax? Great instrument. Oh stop making that face, I know you mean s-e-x. I can't believe I forgot how good that is for your skin. Thanks for the reminder.
My birthday is on the 12th, when is your sister's?

Green-Eyed Momster said...

Tracey: She's a Libra, sign of balance. Good sign, my oldest daughter is a Libra.

XAVS: You are so right about skin care being just as important for men. I'm sorry that this post doesn't reflect that.

I'd never have guessed you were 51! Thanks for the tips - I definitely need them - I'm nearing 30 and little wrinkles are starting to push through! I might look into getting a facial brush, and definitely agree on the many benefits of red wine!!

Movin' already you HOT MOMMA !!
Thanks for all these great tips; true, Shiseido is a great brand and they have this soft brush and non-soapy-soap (I think it's glycerine or something) to clean your face !
Drinking water and not-smoking or drinking is a great tip too ...but hard for some to follow !

I'm real happy to hear about the red wine! & olive oil is great. Thanks for the tips.

Thanks for the note too.

Drollgirl: Aren't we supposed to be like a fine wine or something?

Gary: Thank you, that's sweet. Is Styx code for the other thing?

Red Boots: Word of advice, scrub gently. I saw someone else's facial brush and it was flat. That couldn't have been any fun for their face.

Domi: Look who's talking! Is that a new profile shot? My god, you're gorgeous!

Cait: Just don't try to do the olive oil thing if you've been drinking red wine, you might wind up with a "drippy" head.

ok. I'll get off the couch now, and run around the house at night while moisturizing and massaging my face and drinking red wine. Because I like instant results.

:)

Thanks for the tips, youngster!!

I got all excited and clappy when I realized that you were going to reveal your secrets for staying young-looking. Then I got to the part about some kind of seed extract or whatever and saw how many more things you listed and decided I don't have enough patience and commitment to looking young.

diane said...

Lulu: I like your style. Running around the house whilst drinking red wine sounds good to me.

Isabel: That's a smart move, even at your young age. Speaking of moves, how's it going with the new apartment?

Miss Yvonne: If you had the patience to read to the end, it gets to the red wine part. mmmmmmm. :)

Sure, now you tell me ;-) Kidding.
THANKS for the advice. I do most of your list but I'll check out your brands.

I'm with you on Blogger. I wish they'd figure it out and get it together. I've started adding all the blogs I read to the "fave blog list" on my blog.... it's a mile long but the only way I can keep track of things.

And thanks for checking out More.com. I reallllly appreciate it.

and could you be more fantastic? don't think so.

James Jean said...

You read Sart's blog. I've featured it a couple of times, get a bike! You'll enjoy it. As a matter of fact, I have diddly squat to do today and I'm gonna spend some time with zee bike....I recently read your comment on Dominica's blog about Cute Hubby thinking Paul was a creep for years. I'm dying to hear this one......

diane said...

miriam: Thanks honey!

JFK Jean: Cute Hubby's beef with Paul dates back to the tension between him and John Lennon when they split up.
Have fun on zeee bike!

Vic said...

But Paul now says John really liked him - it was just the drugs talking...

Great tips, diane! I'm going to check out the grape seed wash. I usually use Cetaphil, but I'm curious now!

You do look young - not only do the good genes help, but the youthful attitude you have - so positive. It's one of the things I especially love about you.

diane said...

Vic: What a total sweetie pie you are, thank you so much! (blushing)

There's more tips on the way, some day. Right after I get done writing that children's book. Yeah, I'll get right to that.

Marian.

P.S about seven years ago I used to work with a woman in her sixties who did not look a day over 40,I remember she said she had never used soap either.

Cait said...

thanks so much for the note today. I did write that rather fast..and I probably should have let it rest more before I published it. But I had seen someone in passing, and it made me want to write that scene.

diane said...

Tracey: What could you possibly be up to NOW? I'll be right over.

Marian: That is the nicest compliment I've had all day. I know that you see model perfect people all of the time. Now. . .if only I could find someone as talented as you to take a good photo of me, you know, before I get any older.

Cait: I'm glad you went ahead and published it the way it is. I really liked the piece that you wrote today. xo

I couldn't agree more about the non-soap tip. I LOVE Juice Organics' products. Have you tried their pomegranate shave cream? They just came out with shampoos and conditioners and I am absolutely in LOVE with their lip glosses. What a great brand; honest and organic!
