You Broke My Will, Oh What a Thrill. Jerry Lee Lewis (no, not Jerry Lewis....... the musical one)

Today is the birthday of rock & roll legend Jerry Lee Lewis, he is 75.

Dear Jerry,
I have always been a big fan of yours. I love your piano style, and the way you flip your hair around when you sing. Living to 75 is a great testament for someone in your profession, lots of rock singers don't make it past 40. One in particular, shall we name him Big E, died too young from too much of everything (isn't that gluttony?). Anyways, you stuck to your guns when everyone turned on you for marrying your 13 year old cousin. Your career took a big hit because of that, but you made it through the scandal. And you never started taking karate as a desperate attempt to keep from being fat, I love that about you.
I hope you have a really good day, and celebrate it with your closest friends & family.
You shake my nerves and you rattle my brain. Happy Birthday!
Your friend,
Diane xo

I was introduced to Jerry's music when I was about 18 or 19. I dated a guy that worked in the big club my age group attended in our small town. (featuring mostly Peter Frampton wanna-be bands). On Sundays Jerry would perform for the "old people". I never told anyone but it was my favorite night of the week. That guy was good.

Happy birthday Jerry!

My ex-inlaws had a neighbor in northern Georgia with big gates to their house with great balls of fire emblazoned across in honor of JLL

JJ, I'm a little more than jealous.
Van, awesome neighbors. Bet they had great parties.
Drolly, me too. Didn't Dennis Quaid do a good job?

Funny. You do know that Jerry Lee's cousins are the Rev. Jimmy Swagart (philandering preacher) and Mickey Gilley, (crooner and saloon owner). Would love to have attended one of their July 4th picnics!

Don, I wonder why they called him The Killer. Do you know?

Mr. Charleston, aren't you just a pocketful of information! I bet their family reunions were a hoot.

LOVE him too. When the movie came out about him I went to see it several times cos I had a BIG crush on Dennis Quaid/Jerry and also his music.
Bought the CD back then and I can pretty much sing along with any JLL song ... He will come to Antwerp to perform November 9th btw ...

Domi, his voice is still clear as a bell, although he doesn't do the "theatrics" anymore.
