i think they outlawed diving boards in california. i am not kidding. weird, huh? i mean you can still jump in a pool, but the diving boards are GONE. weird.
Drolly, Diving boards in California are not illegal. Yahoo answers quote - A 1 m springboard needs at least 3.5-4 m (11-13 ft) of water depth under it, to allow a safe vertical head-first entry. For obvious reasons, higher boards require more depth. This is to minimise the risk to the diver of striking the bottom so hard that they knock themselves unconscious and/or break their neck, and drown as a result. The guy who answered the question sounds a bit pompous to me, but there you have it.
