The fashion houses really do take their cue from street fashion. Two of the most well known fashion blogs, The Sartorialist & Garance Dore, have been showing photos of well dressed, beautiful older people. Countless others are following their lead like the Pied Piper. Liz Claiborne's line is aimed at "women", not young girls. Gap's been doing the ageless thing for years. Who's next? What out babies, maybe it's time to let the seasoned trendsetters take the stage.

I'm glad they are looking at the whole population now...now if Old Navy would think. Really, this past season..much of their stuff seemed much more cheap than usual.
Yes! I'm in!
I LOVE the way the older woman is dressed in the first picture..she looks fabulous !
Another brand 'Comptoir de Cotonniers' (I think it's French in origin) do a search every year for a mother's/daughter's couple to use for their adds. India & me have been lining up once a couple of years ago...but there are so many that you have to be really lucky and goodlooking to win ...
Maybe we'll try again this year ...
Cait: I don't see the same quality at Old Navy as I used to. They still have really nice kid's clothes though.
Dominica: I immediately looked up C de C, and found esthetically pleasing images. Their line reminds me very much of Jil Sander.
Ann: I'm having trouble leaving comments on your page, it won't accept my account or something. Anyway, I think it was very brave for you to tell that "bar" story, and I thank you for sharing. xo
what an great idea :ooo love those beige pants in that first pic :)
These pictures are awesome, and about damn time!!!
The older chicks rock!
I love this, Diane. Thanks so much. I got into blogland in January because I want to connect with women like me who are looking for these older fashion role models. It's a bummer looking BACK only at younger women. Being in the middle...46...it's an opportunity and a challenge!
I love Sherrie Mathieson's book, Forever Cool. Do you know that book?
